The number of Nigerian students studying abroad has increased over the past decade. According to a study, there were about 100,000 Nigerians in institutions outside Nigeria in 2016 compared with only 20,000 in 2007. The increase is mainly due to economic growth and better educational opportunities within Nigeria itself. In addition, many students who come from wealthy families chose to stay abroad after their studies.

International student market in UK is worth more than 17 Billion dollars and Nigeria is among the top ten largest country after China and India that’s sending a large number of it’s students to the UK. This is not surprising at all since Nigeria has one of the largest English speaking populations in Africa and its strong economy makes it a good destination for international students who are looking to study abroad on scholarship or through student loan options provided by various institutions across the globe.

A large number of  Nigerian students are studying abroad mainly in the UK and US. Currently in UK more then 18,000 Nigerian students are studying here while in United states there are around 8000 Nigerian students.

In United Kingdom Robert Gordon University is one of the largest university to recruit Nigerian students.
