Since a while, Russia has successfully established itself as one of the top destinations of young men and women seeking a career in the field of medicine. Degrees conferred by Russian medical universities are universally recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and World Health Organization (WHO). The Russian universities are getting thousands of applicants every year from Europe, South and East Asia and Africa and in order to accommodate international students coming from various lingual backgrounds, many universities have started to offer courses in English and French.

The cost of studying medicine in Russia for international students varies according to university and the region in which the student finds accommodation.  The average tuition cost of studying general medicine (M.B.B.S) is around 3500 US dollars per year. The annual tuition cost for dentistry (B.D.S) is around 3200 US dollars. The average per year cost for pharmacy is 2000 US dollars, while the cost of Pediatrics is around 3200 US dollars. It is, however, pertinent to mention that the tuition fee is reduced to a great scale if the international student selects Russian as a medium of instruction apart from English or French. The accommodation/hostel charges are around 700 US dollars per years, although this may vary a bit according to regions. Apart from it, international students have to pay around 120 US dollars in health insurance per year.

Other charges include payment for Visa which is around 100 US dollars, admission/registration fees which is around 200 US dollars and service charge of almost 800 US dollars. The total cost of any degree in medicine is significantly low as compared with medical degrees on United States and United Kingdom and has resulted in students preferring Russian over the other countries.

Many Russian Universities are offering scholarships to deserving students. The scholarship program includes fee concession from 10% to 100%. Moreover, the universities offer on campus jobs to many students to cover up their expenses. Russian government, keeping in mind the ordeals of international students, allows them to work part time to help themselves finance their desired programs. According to the policy of Russian government, only employers with particular license are allowed to hire international students for work.
